Mizuno JPX - 800 STEEL IRONS 4-Pw

When setting out to create the new JPX-800 iron, Mizuno steadfastly stuck to the mantra that forgiving didn't have to mean big and ugly.

Instead, they wanted to develop a game-improvement iron that would outperform everything else on the market not only in terms of performance, but in looks as well.

The JPX-800 signals the end of the popular MX-line up of Mizuno irons and replaces the MX-1000 iron.

The JPX-800 is is a mid-size head which appears even more compact and versatile than it is thanks to a triple-cut sole design which sees the leading a trailing edge beveled and the mid sole cambered.

The new iron features the hottest face (highest COR - spring-like effect) of any iron in the company's history while also being the most forgiving. This is achieved thanks to a thinner, more uniform iron face to reach the maximum allowed limits for ebergy transfer.

Like other new Mizuno irons in the range, the JPX-800 also features a flow cavity design with smaller heads and cavities as you work through the set from long iron to short.

David Llewellyn, from Mizuno's R&D dept, said: "The JPX-800 is an incredible iron that's hard to pigeonhole. To achieve these ball speeds and MOI numbers, you'd expect to compromise by adding lots of offset, or thick top and bottom edges. But our design challenge was to pack all this performance into a head shape that a Tour player wouldn't reject

Mizuno's JPX technology platform provides a different option for serious golfers - a high feel Grain Flow Forged iron, packed with forgiveness and distance properties

The largest of Mizuno's Grain Flow Forged irons, the JPX has a longer profile than its MP counterparts, though a modest offset and top line preserve the traditional Mizuno look at

Distance gains are achieved through a unique combination of CNC milling and "under cut forging" that thin the face for improved energy transfer - resulting in the highest COR ever developed in a Mizuno Grain Flow Forged iron. The JPX800 Pro's 'under-cut' also allows an unlikely level of stability and forgiveness for an iron of such modest proportions.

While workability is reigned in through the use of the 'under-cut', the JPX800 Pro's Grain Flow Forged feel is enhanced through the application of Mizuno's Harmonic Impact Technology project - re-enforcing strategic areas for a pure sound at impact.

Mizuno's triple cut sole design is applied to effectively reduce the impact of the wider sole – for effective use from even the tightest cut fairways.

The JPX800 Pro is Grain Flow Forged at Mizuno's exclusive Hiroshima facility for exceptional feel and distance control.
